Gathering resilience and wisdom in the Covid Era
BENDING IN 2020 started off as a gift for my courageous friend, Alaiya, whose husband died by suicide last year. I was curious to know how she made it through that experience and how it prepared her to meet the Covid Era. This limited series branched off to further explore sonic portraitures of resilience, courage, and transformational change.
This is one of the most moving pieces I've heard in awhile. I was glued....I cried on my porch....It is such an important mix of a personal tragedy juxtaposed with a global one. I would be absolutely honored to air this piece on 51%.

Wow this interview... it goes to depth of the depths of emotion in the most questioning of times you find such connection, presence and jewels of wisdom. Such a powerful reflection of the heart and soul’s journey, I could really relate to so many parts of this....taking it all in. I’ve gone through those thoughts about my own life before, and had to pretend to look out at that crowd, I found this conversation really validating - and in hearing her story, and your provoking questions, helped me understand my experience a little deeper. It’s clear that you see the power of getting through challenging times through relating to others struggles and the wisdom found in those moments.
Thanks for shining a light of compassion, empathy, self reflection and revelation. The portion where she shares about responding to the earth and being - really helped me dive deeper into the digestion and comprehension of my experience with covid and the world right now.
